St George's Day Celebration
On 27th April Members of Bolton Lever Rotary
Club entertained
40 Senior Citizens at a St. George's Day Celebration.
This was held at Horwich Resource Centre, starting with a glass of
sherry which was followed by a meat and potato pie supper.
The Sue Ryder "Landgirls" then entertained us all with a medley of
1940's songs,
ending with Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.
Everyone had a very happy and relaxing evening before being given a
small present and then taken back home.

Following a hog
roast and jazz afternoon in September 2009, which raised 1500
pounds, 800
pounds was given to the Mother Teresa Orphanage in Khartoum. They
elected to use the money to buy a
cooker and freezer, as previously they had been cooking on the
floor!
200 pounds was set aside to pay for cataract operations in
Khartoum and
500
pounds to the Mikoroshoni School, in a small Kenyan village, to provide
breakfasts for small children when they arrive at school. |
